ABBY GERDING-INSTRUCTOR
Hi my name is Abby Gerding and I started teaching with Dance Fuzion Studio in 2017. My motto is dance with your heart and the rest will follow. I have a combined 19 qualified years of teaching throughout Ohio. I started my dancing journey at the age of 3 with Dancers Elite School of Dance where my DEA certified instilled the love of dance in me. I studied ballet, Pointe, tap, jazz, and was a part of Dancers Elite dance line. I interned under Miss Debbie where I was a student assistant and substitute teacher. After five years of learning from my mentor I became a lead teacher at Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre where I also continued interning under Darcey Schneider who also is DEA certified and took classes from Al Gilbert. While at RIMDC I sat in on many classes with amazing instructors that are currently performing and lead choreographers on Broadway. I still speak work them asking for inspiration on quality teaching. I am constantly inspired to see how I can improve with my hands on teaching style. Teaching little ones correct terminology and technique is part of my life's passion that allows dancers to grow in a safe nurtured environment.

My name is Maria Wilcoxon. I was a competitive cheerleader for 10 years. During that time, my teams won many national titles around the United States. We also earned our way multiple times to The Cheerleading Worlds where we placed 11th out of over 50 teams in 2014. I attended Keystone High School where I was the first freshman to make varsity and cheered on varsity for all 4 years rooting for our football and basketball teams. I was on the 2012 high school competition team, which was unfortunately the only year we had one. We took 6th at States as a first time team. I was also on my high school pom team. I received an athletic scholarship for both cheer and dance to Notre Dame College. I was voted the competition cheerleading team leader as a freshman. I've danced and trained alongside the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Cincinatti Bengals Cheerleaders, and Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders. While living in Texas, I had the privilege of training with NFL, NHL, and NBA cheerleading and dance coaches and choreographers. I've competed in the Miss America Ohio pageant systems with my talent being tumbling and dance. I coached competitive cheerleading for 7 years for World Cup Ohio and then Stingray Allstars Tampa. My teams have won multiple national titles around the United States including the 2022 Southeast Regional Summit Championships where they took 1st place and grand champions of the entire D1 competition (hundreds of teams) with a score of 98.1. Cheerleading and dance are something that I'm very passionate about from having fun in performance to the hard work and dedication it takes to be your best. I hope to share my love of cheer and dance with the children that I coach.
danaja overton - Instructor
Hi, my name is Danaja, but most dancers call me Miss D! I grew up in Philadelphia PA, training as a dancer since the age of 6. Alongside dancing at many conventions and competitions, I went to a performing arts high school where I developed my love for creating and mentoring younger students, created choreographic pieces, learned dance history, and helped to administer and help grow the current dance program. In my senior year of high school, I danced professionally for a NFL cheerleading team until I decided to turn down another year to attend college. I graduated college with a BA in Dance and BS in Biology in 2021, leaving behind my creation of the first ever dance team at Bryn Athyn College. This included performances, administration, mentoring, and choreographing. I recently moved to Columbus, OH in 2022, in hopes to continuing to inspire the next generation of dancers and artists! I’m excited to be returning for my second year at DFS teaching lyrical! This year, I hope to help your dancer grow confidence, love what they are doing, and reach and achieve goals that they strive for! Hope to see you in class!
